What I'm Wearing: '50s Gingham Blouse made by me {vintage Butterick #7164} // Black Pencil Skirt made by me // Faux Leather Bomber Jacket Target // Belt F21 // Post Earrings Kohl's // Wedges Payless
Last month I made this gingham blouse for our trip to San Antonio. I used vintage Butterick #7164 from the 1950s. I've made two other tops using vintage patterns, but they never turned out this nice. It must be because I used nicer fabric {rather then the cheep stuff from Joanns}. I originally bought this fabric for a skirt, but I kept seeing the gingham blouses from J.Crew on blogs & Pinterest. So, I just had to make one for myself. For this spring/summer I want to make a yellow gingham blouse, like one that Elizabeth Taylor is wearing in this picture. I think I'm hooked on making blouses now with vintage patterns.
I bought this faux leather bomber jacket online at Target last week on clearance. It was just what I have been looking for awhile now, and I already love it to death! I can safely say that, you will be seeing me wear this a lot this spring/summer/fall/winter. *laughs*

This is an excellent outfit! I love this interpretation of the '50s: it's young, cool rocker, instead of 'let's go to the sock-hop.' :)
ReplyDeleteI wore a very '50s outfit earlier in the week, so I wrote up a post and linked up!

ReplyDeleteWow! I haven't been on your blog in forever (my fault, obviously not yours!):). How've you been?!
ReplyDeleteCute outfit! I know, I could live in my bomber jacket too! I bought mine at Herbergers, I'd been drooling over it, but at $60, it was wayyy too pricey! But when it went on sale for $25, I nearly freaked out! It also has removable fur on the collar!
I'm in love with your blouse! AhhH! Every time I visit your blog it makes me want to sew! I'm hoping to sew some this Summer, just seems like time is flying for me!
