Cath Kidston - Spring/Summer Inspiration

Some how I stumbled upon Cath Kidston last year (online)...and fell right in love with her designs. They have such a vintage/whimsy feel about them...almost picture book like. I had hope to visit one of her stores while I was in London last Fall, but I just didn't find the time. Maybe next time. ;)

Here is what is inspiring me from their spring/summer collection.

I LOVE this jean skirt and would love to make one just like it.

How about these cherry red polka-dot wellies? Aren't they just darling? I love them!

This would be fun to recreate. Though, I don't know where I would find badges for different UK sites. :)
How cute are these vintage(y) hair-bows? And they come in three vintage colors.

If you didn't know already, I love polka-dots! Like this dress. And look, it also comes with a matching polka-dot belt!

What about you? What are your favorites? Or is Cath Kidston not your style? =)

Mini Haul | Earrings and Jeans

This afternoon I went to the mall with my mom and Gabrielle, and we ran into some good sales. Payless is having a buy one get one 1/2 off everything. You can buy a pair of shoes and sunglasses, one of those would be 1/2 off. I didn't get anything at Payless though, as they didn't have any shoes I liked in my size. =)

We also stopped at J.C.Penny were I picked up a pair of jeans for $17 normally $36. My old pair is faded and forming holes on the seams. Not pretty.

In real life the jeans are darker then shown here.

Our last stop was at Claire's. I only have three pairs of earrings and I'm getting tired of wearing the same ones everyday. =) At Claire's they are having a buy 2 get one pair free sale. So of course I bought three pairs.

And now I have eleven more pairs of earrings. =) I can't wait for when I can wear non-post earrings! For all stores seam to have the same kind of post earrings! I see a need for someone to design unique post earrings. Who is with me?

There are the sales I discovered while out shopping today.  Oh, The Young Victoria comes out on DVD and on iTunes tomorrow!

What I'm Wearing - Audrey & Grace Style

Yesterdays outfit was very 1950s. The dress and jacket were both made from a vintage pattern from the 50s. And my heels are vintage, from the 50s I think. I wore this dress to my graduation and people commented that I reminded them of Audrey Hepburn. Now Gabrielle says, "With the jacket on it looks like what Grace Kelly would wear. But when you take the jacket off, then it looks more like Audrey Hepburn." What do you think?

-What I'm Wearing-

Dress and Jacket - Made by me using a vintage pattern

Wellies....a new found love

I have come to love the look wellies. In fact, I found a pair I would love to buy at Target. They are a part of the Liberty of London collection.

Liberty of London at Target  (the pair I love)

Dots Spots - Target

Allison Floral - Target

Zaney Polka Dot - Target

Mod Dot - Target

Not sure how to wear wellies? Look at these two pictures I found.

Looks like you just wear them with your normal clothes. :)

Do you like wellies? Do you wear them out and about? Or only on rainy days, or in the garden working?

What's Inspiring Me | Mary Tyler Moore (1960s)

For the past two months I have been wanting Mary Tyler Moore's wardrobe in the Dick Van Dyke Show.

Look I even made my Valentines dress out of a 1964 pattern. :)

I also love her hair in the flip hairstyle. I want to do it to my hair. But, I think my hair is too long. :) Anyone have tips on how to do the flip?

I think I need to pull out my 1960s patterns and sew me some Laura Petrie inspired clothing. What do you think? ;)

Do any of you have a favorite TV show or movie character who's wardrobe you love? And would love to own, or make for yourself? Do tell me for I love to hear what inspires you.

Vogue Patterns | New Darling Vintage Patterns

Vogue patterns has come out with two new darling dress patterns. Both are perfect for a summer afternoon out on the lawn, reading a book with a glass of lemonade or ice-tea. Or for a spring/summer wedding.

V1172 (Pattern Cover)

V1172 (Dress on model)

V1171 (Pattern cover)

V1171 (Dress on model)

I really like V1171 as it has a sailor collar. I tend to have a weakness for things that have a sailor influence. Don't know why. :)

Which one do you like?
