Going Through the Era's // Baking Thursday {1960s}

Hello everyone! It is Gabrielle here doing today's baking from the 1960s post this evening. I found this recipe from one of Ashley's 1960s girl magazines. My youngest sister and I have made this twice since discovering the recipe in February, and would have made it more but we ran out of walnuts.... Which is also the reason why I don't have a picture. You can take my word though that it is absolutely delicious!

Cinnamon Nuts (California) c. 1960

2 cups of walnuts halves (you can also do almonds or a mix)
1 cup of sugar
1 tablespoon of cinnamon
5 tablespoons of water
1/8 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of vanilla

Combine the sugar, cinnamon, water and salt in a saucepan. Bring to a boil over low heat and boil 5 minutes. Add vanilla. Stir in nuts until the mixture is thick and nuts thoroughly covered. Remove from heat and turn out on wax paper. Separate the nuts. When cool, store in tightly covered container.

I'm not sure how long it will last, we eat them too fast to know. The aroma while baking is like a state fair or baseball game as you pass the nut stand. Hmm, delicious! I hope y'all enjoy the recipe.
