It isn't often that I visit my own local independent shops or eateries that can be found around Indiana. If I travel out-of-state to say, Boston, MA or Philadelphia, PA, or some other town or city within the United States I'm all about trying the local places. I really want to change that, especially since I don't have the opportunity to travel much anymore.

My sister, Gaby, discovered the two places I'm going to be chatting to y'all about today, so it is thanks to her that I went to and visited these places.

The Garden Table -- Located in Broad Ripple, a suburb of Indianapolis, The Garden Table is a local eatery that offers fresh juices and food & coffee that is locally sourced. They focus on bringing healthy food that is good for you, and supports local farmers, businesses, and the community.

The whole atmosphere at The Garden Table is relaxed, clean, fresh, and hipster. I loved it! I'm already eagerly awaiting to go back some Saturday morning, so me and Gaby can do a photo-shoot afterwards in some of the alley ways that can be found in the area.

Regarding the food and drinks. I ordered the BMT Sandwich (Open face with tomato-fennel jam, fresh mozzarella, balsamic reduction, basil oil) and Dirty Iced Chai Latte. Oh, my goodness. They were both amazing!! The sandwich was so tasty, that I could have eaten more than one. Typically, I don't like a Dirty Chai Latte, but their's was on-point and made every other chai latte that I have ever had seem not as good. Definitely recommend both of the items I tried, if you ever visit The Garden Table.

These past two weeks I've been living in my baseball caps. I've either opted for this one that I picked up on clearance last October/November at Old Navy for super cheap, or my Detroit Tigers team cap. Back in December of 2014 I had the chance to purchase the J.Crew wool baseball cap [it looked just like this Old Navy one] on super clearance, sadly I passed on it and regretted it every day since [until I purchased this Old Navy dupe]. What can I say? I love a good baseball cap.

I was able to test out these products back in December before they were released in stores, thanks to the Yes to... PR. I've been using various lines and products of theirs for several years. In fact, it was the brand that I first tried out when I started buying my own skincare and personal products in general. Some of their products have worked amazingly for me, while others irritated my super sensitive skin. To say the least, I was excited to try out the new products for their coconut line as I know that coconut oil is great for your skin, but coconut oil in it's natural form doesn't personally work for me [it never soaks into my skin].

The first product I tested out was their Coconut Ultra Hydrating Facial Soufflé Moisturizer [$14.99] -- my skin has been unusually dry this winter, so seeing that their moisturizer was advertised as ultra hydrating had me hooked. Oh, my goodness. This stuff is thick, creamy, and moisturizing! My skin just soaks it up every time I use it. Since this moisturizer is so thick and creamy, I like to lather a bunch onto my skin at night mostly. I find it a bit too thick for daytime use, except for those rare days when my skin is flaking like crazy and nothing else will help the dryness.

Apply a thick layer over skin, let it dry for 10-15 minutes. Wash off with warm water and a washcloth.

By Sephora | #06 (February, 2016) Review

I actually received my first, Play! By Sephora box in December, 2015, but have never gotten around to sharing about it except on Snapchat. I kept meaning to do a review of the two previous boxes, just never got around to it. Over the years, I have tried out several beauty subscription boxes: Birchbox, Glossy Box, Wantable, Ipsy, etc... all of which have various pros and cons, price points, and purposes.

When I first heard that Sephora was starting a subscription box, I was intrigued. Sephora sells amazing products, from fantastic brands many of which I am yet to try out. I was curious as to how the boxes would be curated and if there would be any benefits to subscribing to their subscription.

I am a Beauty Insider at Sephora, and have been for years (I was a member and shopped at Sephora wayyy before I ever shopped at Ulta Beauty). The benefits for a Beauty Insider are alright, you occasionally receive a discount and your points only turn into deluxe sized samples. You do receive excellent birthday gifts (I always look forward to my gift every year), and the Sephora inside JCP is always sending me flyers for free gifts with no purchase necessary -- making it easy to test out brands and products I typically couldn't afford on a daily basis without some discount. [And for my job, knowledge is power and things are expensive.]

Back to about Play! By Sephora -- you typically receive a fragrance sample, and various deluxe samples from any of their other departments: skin, hair, and/or colour [this would be makeup]. You also receive a booklet explaining about the products and a card to redeem on your next purchase for 50 extra points (100 points = 1 deluxe sample), making it easier to collect more points if you don't make a lot of purchases at Sephora. You also receive 10 points each month for receiving your box. Oh, the box is $10 a month + tax.

This month was makeup heavy focused with one hair product and your traditional fragrance sample. I know that most people don't love receiving fragrance samples in their subscription boxes, but I love them. They are perfect for traveling and I have discovered my first favorite perfumes with said samples.

Tom Ford // Black Orchid EDP -- This scent wasn't a favorite of mine. It was too strong for me. Also, sandalwood is one of the top notes of this perfume, so that could be one of the reasons I dislike this. I am allergic to Cedar, so I find that I dislike most woody fragrances.

Lancôme // Drama Liquid-Pencil Longer Eyeliner in Noir Intense -- Intense creamy pigmentation that lasts all day. I'm a fan of this eye pencil. Reminds me of the Rimmel London or Butter London gel eye pencils, which are my other two favorites.

Tarte // Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara -- I have tried this mascara out before, and I have found it too dry for my taste. My sister, Gaby on the other hand loves this mascara! So I always pass on my samples to her of this mascara. Personally, I love a more wet to medium dry mascara, like the Too Faced 'Better Than Sex'.

Make Up Forever // Rouge Artist Natural in N9 Copper Pink -- This was a birthday gift back in 2014, and on first application it was true lipstick love.

Bare Minerals // Pop of Passion Lip Oil-Balm in Plumbery Pop -- The color is amazing! I haven't worn it too much yet, been loving nude lips when I do wear something other than a lip balm recently. Mostly, because my lips have been crazy dry since January, no matter how much water I drink and lip balm I use.

Bumble and Bumble // Pret-A-Powder -- This stuff is awesome! Doesn't make my hair feel funky after using it, just clean and refreshed. It is a powder formula, which was new for me, as I typically use a dry shampoo that sprays out of an areole can, but with some practice I can easily get the hang of using it. Confession time. I had a dream the other night that Bumble & Bumble was coming to Ulta Beauty -- I love it that much. (If you don't know, I currently work at Ulta Beauty).

I've only recently become familiar with the holiday Galentines Day [which is February 13th], and to be honest. One of my friends has always hosted a girls-only Valentines Party to celebrate being together as friends, granted her parties are for singles, but the same basic idea applies. We also do a chocolate gift exchange at the party, so I thought it would be fun to share some fun little gift ideas that your girly, or not so girly friends would enjoy that won't break the bank. I'm also going to share some quick outfit ideas for y'all too!

A Girly Movie -- Personally, I'm the kind of gal who loves collecting and watching movies and television shows, so I wouldn't mind receiving one for a gift. Granted of course, you already know all the movies I own [I kinda own a lot]. Another fun idea would be to give a gift card to Netflix! The ones featured in the above picture are: Leap Year [2010] & Cinderella [2015].

Chocolate -- Duh? You can never go wrong with chocolate. Unless of course, they are allergic to it, or just don't like it. #strangepeople

Cute Mug or Travel Cup -- Hmm...we may have a problem with giving each other mugs as gifts in our family. Our kitchen cupboard is packed full of mugs in various designs and from various Starbucks collections. This is a cute mug that can be found on Etsy. Anthropologie is always a good idea. So is Target or Altered State.

Lipgloss -- A girl can never have too much lipgloss, or if you know she prefers lipstick give her that.

An adorable makeup bag -- Even if you know your friend doesn't wear a lot of makeup, a bag is always usefully for so many things! Traveling. Storing skincare.

Graphic Tee -- Personally, I love a good graphic tee. In fact, I have two storage bins in my closet for graphic tees. One bin is for tees with: Bible verses, quotes, sayings, or flowers. While the second bin is for tees of a more fandom nature: Marvel, Doctor Who, Sherlock, Disney, etc... Where can you find a cute graphic tee? Well, I find that most stores have them in-stock these days. I find mine at thrift stores, J.Crew, Target, Old Navy, and I have even made my own.

Notebook -- Have some writer friends or blogging friends? They may appreciate a cute notebook. Or if you have an artsy friend, consider giving them a blank sketchbook that could fit in a purse. [I don't know where mine is from. It was a gift.]

Earrings or a Small Necklace -- If you really know their personal style for jewelry, this is always a good idea. Target, Forever 21, and Francesca's always have a good selection if you are looking for reasonably prices pieces. [The earrings featured in the picture are from Forever 21, a couple of years ago.]

Cookies -- I think it would be fun to make up some cookie mix in a jar to give as gifts. Then all they would have to do is add the wet and bake. Homemade cookies anytime they wanted. Of course, you could also treat them to some Trader Joe's cookies, or some other fun brand!

Hello everyone! I'm excited to share with y'all PUR Minerals newest foundation with y'all: HydraFluid Water Serum Foundation. If you like a natural looking coverage that is build-able, stays looking fresh all day, gives a natural dewiness, and doesn't dry out your winter skin I would say give this foundation a go.

The foundation comes in five shades: Light, Medium, Tan, Dark, and Deep. When watched, you would think that the light shade is a tad dark for me, but it somehow works. I have also used the dark & tan shade to try contouring my face with creams instead of powders. Let's just say, I need to practice more as contouring is hard. Of course, it could be because I like a very natural makeup look, not glam.

When I have worn this foundation to work, I have receive many complements on my foundation and how natural my makeup looked. Which is crazy as I was wearing a ton of makeup -- blush, highlighter, contour, powder on my oily zones, eye shadow, mascara, eye-liner, and concealer. I'm excited that this foundation is now in-stores, as I can now recommend this product to customers when ever I wear it to work [or not].

The foundation retails for $39 and can be found at Kohl's, ULTA Beauty, and on PUR Cosmetics website. Also, the foundation just launched in-store this past Sunday [February 7th] so you should be able to locate it easily.

It isn't often that I have the entire weekend off, so I made my time off count. Especially since I didn't have to spend my spare time working on behind-the-scenes blog stuff anymore (which is what I did the entire month of January).

On Saturday morning I went shopping with my Mum to Goodwill's 50% off sale and to several grocery stores. We made out like bandits at Goodwill. I found several Madewell & JCrew tee shirts, an oversized cream jumper (this has long been on my dream fashion wish-list), several cardigans and jumpers from my favorite brands (BB Dakota, JCrew, Banana Republic, Gap), American Eagle flare jeans (they look brand new), and a Bufflo plaid like jacket from a boutique brand. I got everything for 60% off because I have their Goodwill card, which helps you save money when you spend over $20 on their 50% off days. #score

That evening I finally got around to watching the film, Unbroken (2014) with my sister, Gaby. I really enjoyed the film and can't wait to read the book someday -- as I heard it is fantastic and better than the film!

On Sunday I wore two of my new finds from Goodwill: one of my new Madewell tees & the plaid jacket.

I loved the top half of my outfit so much, I wore it after church too when I went out shopping with my sister, Gaby. I just switched a few things out for a more casual, yet dressy look.

Btw, do y'all have tips for making your jeans look cute while tucked into your combat boots? 'Cause mine always look sloppy and puffy -- mostly because I have skinny ankles so my jeans are never "tighter" around my ankles.

Stopped at Trader Joes & Fresh Thyme to picked up nuts, fruit, and supplies for dinner that night for the two of us (chicken Italian sausage with homemade marinara sauce and zucchini noodles). Then we headed over to our fancy mall to stop at Altered State, Sephora, and Urban Outfitters. Once we were done shopping, we headed back home to cook dinner and play taboo with our youngest sister before the Super Bowl game started.

Hello everyone! Today is National Wear Red Day in support of women's heart health. I was asked by the American Heart Association online shop, ShopHeart.org to share my outfit ideas for their collection of Limited Edition Go Red for Women tees that came out in support of women's heart health.

Stars from the upcoming movie, How to Be Single (2016) hand selected the tees for the collection. These leading ladies are: Leslie Mann, Dakota Johnson, and Alison Brie. Every purchase of one these exclusive tees benefits the Go Red For Women cause.

I have two outfit ideas that would work with any of the tees from the Limited Edition Go Red for Women collection. Though honestly, there are so many ways you could wear these shirts as they are great basic designs that lend themselves to various looks and styles.

Hello everyone! I feel with this fresh new look, I'm going to be motivated to blog more. It also helps that Wordpress has an app that works, so I can start working on a post whenever the mood strikes. Yay!

I have several blog post ideas lined up (most of them beauty related with one lifestyle post). Once warmer weather comes to Indiana, you will see more fashion related posts. I tend to get in a dressing slump come colder weather, and like to just wear sweaters, jeans, and boots. But I'm itching to pull out my cute dresses and flats once Spring hits! Especially since I've found so many cute dresses over the winter for cheap.

I do want to do a fashion event either this month or in March. Haven't decided which yet. I'm sorta leaning towards March 'cause it could be warmer. What type of event it will be, is still to be determined. I had lots of suggestions for a vintage themed one. But I'm not sure. If it was going to be vintage, I would lean more 1960s or 1970s for everyday nowadays. 1930s were never me. I still have a weakness for the 1940s & 1950s, just not for everyday anymore. People change. Personal style can change depending on your current lifestyle.

Anyone seen some good movies or TV shows recently? I have been watching the following television shows: Arrow, The Flash, Agent Carter, Foyle's War, Doctor Who, and Full House (season 2, cause that is all I own). Movie wise the only one that comes to mind is, The Courtship of Eddie's Father [1963] -- mostly because it is easier to watch a TV episode before going to bed when one has to wake up anywhere between 4am-5:30am for work.

Oh, did y'all watch the Sherlock special? I personally loved it. Even if it got a tad dark for me at times, but I loved the tie-ins! I definitely can't wait for series 4 of Sherlock to come out.

I should mention that I'm doing Whole30 during the month of February. So far I've only been craving carbs, Italian food, oatmeal cookies, and iced coffee with cream. Doing this is a huge change for me, especially for the breakfast hour. I've always been the type of gal who likes either cereal and milk, waffles, or some type of breakfast pastry & coffee for her breakfast all the time. I never did eggs for breakfast, except now I have eggs every morning now on the Whole30. #irony

Well, I better get going y'all! Talk to y'all later!

Recently I've been really into either going all out with my makeup (think foundation, highlighter, contour, etc...), or doing something simple and basic (brows, mascara, taupe eyeshadow, under eye concealer, etc...).

Funnily enough, I typically only do the full face of makeup for events, occasionally for work, or from January to April or so. :p There is something about this time of year when I adore a good highlighter, blush, and contour. Which reminds me, I should totally share my favorite current highlights with y'all -- which ranges from high-end (BECCA) to drugstore (Wet 'n Wild).

Yesterday's makeup was an example of one of my more simple days. I keep it fairly basic with hardly anything on my skin, so it is able to breath (since my skin is clear of any acne right now). Of course, this look would vary from person, to person depending on your skin and how much you want to cover. For example: when I had more acne I would wear a BB Cream on my simple makeup days to add just a touch more of coverage.

I start out by moisturizing my face. It is wintertime and you need to keep your skin hydrated no matter what the time of year is, or your age really. A well moisturized face helps keeps your face looking younger, so start young and keep doing it (no matter what). Currently I like using Clinique's Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion + during the day as it is a lighter formula.

Once my face has been moisturized, I dab a little bit of concealer to my under eye area to help hid my dark circles and to help brighten up the area in general. On lighter days I'm currently grabbing my Maybelline Fit Me concealer (15), on days where I need a touch more coverage I will grab my Urban Decay NAKED concealer (light-neutral). If my skin is a little bit oily, my forehead has been recently, I will brush some Rimmel London Stay Matte powder on my oily zones (my go to powder on my oily days).

Next we focus on the eyes and brows. Grabing my Anastasia of Beverly Hills Brow Wiz (medium brown) I add some color and shape to my brows. Some days I will add a higher arch, others it is just slightly sloped. Once my brows are done, I work on my eyes by adding a wash of color to my lids. Recently I've been testing out CoverGirl's eye enhancers (tapestry taupe 760) as a quick wash of taupe all over the lid. But I have been known to use a cream eye shadow stick from various brands in the past. I add a quick cat eye flick with some gel eyeliner (brown) from e.l.f cosmetics, and a quick coat of mascara (Too Faced 'Better then Sex') and my eyes are finished.

The finishing touch is of course, the lips. Sometimes I will reach for a pinky nude, a berry, or like yesterday a peachy coral (Rimmel London by Kate Moss in 38).

What are some of your favorite products to use on a simple makeup day?

Also I want to announce that Bramblewood Fashion has switched from Blogger to Wordpress.com! Let me know how y'all like the new look, and if anything isn't working right and I will try my best to fix it.

Hello everyone! I have a makeup tutorial to share with y'all this weekend. A few weeks ago I was admiring Lucy Hale's makeup from People's Choice Awards on Instagram, when I thought hey, I can recreate that look. Basically, it is a simplified version of my somewhat everyday makeup look.

When I was creating this look, I kept repeating in my mind the words of Lisa Eldridge, that makeup artists usually use less makeup than we bloggers do for creating red carpet looks. So I kept my use of products to a minimum.
Hello everyone! I'm going to be sharing what's in my bag currently since it has been awhile since I've done one of these [perhaps a year, or so]. The bag I'm currently using was a Christmas gift this past year from my parents, and it is the Street Level Faux Leather Pocket Tote from Nordstrom [$48]. It is an excellent dupe for the Madewell Transport Tote [which has been one of my dream higher-end bags for several years].

This past autumn/summer I've been using smaller handbags to carry my stuff around. That is until I received this tote bag. I'm finding that this bag is perfect for the winter time, as you can stash your winter gear in the bag when you are inside buildings, or even your small shopping bags while out shopping. This bag would also be perfect for traveling. I can't wait to take this bag on our little family trip in March, to test it out for an overnight trip.

In the front pocket I keep my iPhone, headphones, chapstick, and usually my car keys [so I don't loose them]. My iPhone usually hops between my bag and any pockets that are in my clothing or coat. Just depends on my mood for that day, or if I'm expecting a text or phone call.

It is open and free inside the bag -- so I use lots of makeup bags from my Ipsy subscription to keep loose things sorted. I also store my wallet, mints, hand sensitizer, travel toothpaste & brush, body butter/creams/lotions, medication, pens, and notebook loose inside the bag. While different makeup bags will have the following inside of them: pads, lip products, any makeup I need to carry with me, and sometimes coupons.

Once warmer weather hits I'll also throw in sunscreen, sunburn gel, makeup remover wipes, baby wipes, and deodorant.

The bag that always quickly becomes overfilling with products is my lip bag [featured above]. Currently I have a lot of berries, nudes, and peachy tones inside my bag. My favorite brands are currently: Bite Beauty, NARS, Clinique, Tarte, Revlon, and Rimmel. Mostly I'm giving my Urban Decay and NYX lip products a break right now.Bramblewood Fashionhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15867338837999400697noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4346960377543157190.post-53932825252179054742016-01-18T20:29:00.002-05:002016-01-18T20:29:29.878-05:00Keranique Volumizing Shampoo & Conditioner | My Beauty Picks

Hello lovelies! Today I'm going to be talking about a product that was sent to me via the website iFabbo called Keranique Volumizing Shampoo & Conditioner.

Keranique Volumizing Shampoo & Conditioner is specially formulated to help with hair that is thinning, prone to breakage, and struggles with split ends. Both products contain Keratin Amino Complex, which is supposed to strengthen and thicken every strand and turn the clock back on your hair. The condition is made from a light gel formula and is supposed to never weigh down the hair.

Personally, I found that for my hair, the Keranique Volumizing Shampoo & Conditioner were just too heavy, no matter how many times I tried it out on my hair. My hair would be amazing for one day, then fall limp the next day and would feel like it needed to be washed again [something that doesn't happen so fast with my typical products]. I also found the scent to be a bit off-putting for me personally, but then again, I'm used to using shampoos and conditioners that smell like coconut, macadamia oil, and other type of scents.

I suppose that for some people this does work, in fact I've heard some customers at Ulta Beauty say that this works wonders on their hair, but it just didn't work out for me.Bramblewood Fashionhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15867338837999400697noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4346960377543157190.post-50218915795125389042016-01-11T18:33:00.000-05:002016-01-12T14:24:01.218-05:00Actors/Actresses & Their Movies | Ronald Reagan

For a while now I've been wanting to do a series on old Hollywood actors & actresses where I share the movies I've seen of theirs. I finally took the plunge & named the series, Actors/Actresses & Their Movies -- now the series will only cover the films that I've seen, and nothing else about the person. Sound good?

To start off the series I decided to go with one of my very favorite actors, Ronald Reagan. Most people possibly only know of his roles in the following films: Knute Rockne: All American [1940], Kings Row [1942], Santa Fe Trail [1940], and Bedtime for Bonzo [1951] -- which are some of his most famous roles. I'm going to share with y'all the films that I've seen of his & loved, and I haven't disliked one - yet. *grin*

Also, if the movie is available for sale on DVD, the movie title will be clickable.

This was Ronnie's film debut, and for his first role he played a familiar one, a radio crime reporter. Well, he wasn't a radio crime reporter before Hollywood, but a radio sports broadcaster [still it was with radio]. Anyhow, it is the story of a top crime radio reporter who digs his nose into things his sponsor doesn't want him digging up -- information about some gangsters that are in town [because he, the sponsor himself, is in league with them]. The station gets in trouble and they have to give Reagan a new radio program. So they give him the children's program. But he still finds a way to solve the murder case while working on the kiddie show.
The film showcases how the small town deals, or not deals, with the KKK murders.

Hellcats of the Navy is the only film that Ronald Reagan and his wife, Nancy Davis, appeared in together. The film is about Commander Casey Abbott [Reagan] who is the commander of a fictional submarine that is ordered to undertake a dangerous mission of cutting off the supply route between China and Japan in the heavily mined waters of the Asiatic mainland. Tension is high when Abbott must try to keep his personal feelings separate from his professional decisions.
Wow! I didn't realize that I had seen so many of Ronnie's movies -- in fact, I've seen almost all of his films. Well, for other actors & actresses that I've seen over 10 of their movies or so I'll split up their posts by decade, or something close. Otherwise, some of these posts will be very long.
Hello lovelies! Today I'm going to be talking about a product that was sent to me via the website iFabbo called, StriVectin Advanced Retinol Pore Refiner.

After trying several different ways of using this product the past month, I've discovered my favorite was as a base for my foundation and concealer when my skin is acting up from products that make my skin go crazy [a.k.a damage my under-eye area and make products not lay right on my skin]. What was I saying? Oh, yeah. I like using this product like a face primer. However, it is intended to help reduce the appearance of enlarged pores, smooth out the skin, create a matte look, and even out your complexion coloring.

I've been suffering from some damaged skin on my under-eye area, thanks to trying out a new eye makeup remover that I had received in my latest Ipsy bag. So I haven't been wearing any concealer, foundation, or BB/CC Cream since it would bunch up or lay funky on my skin wherever the skin was damaged.

Enter the StriVectin Advanced Retinol Pore Refiner. I've been wanting to wear some new blushes & highlighters that I've recently purchased, but I like wearing a foundation or something as a base for these products. I remembered that I had this product laying in my bathroom drawer, so I pulled it out to try using it as a base or primer for my face. It worked. The products didn't bunch up or show every line on my under-eye area with the StriVectin Advanced Retinol Pore Refiner as my base.

Using the StriVectin Advanced Retinol Pore Refiner as a primer

Downside. The StriVectin Advanced Retinol Pore Refiner is expensive to really use as an everyday primer, it is $99 just about everywhere, but it does its job. So I would give it a go. Only if it is in your price range, of course.Bramblewood Fashionhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15867338837999400697noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4346960377543157190.post-29610565041893637512016-01-04T20:08:00.001-05:002016-01-12T14:46:53.002-05:00Inspiring Photos | Fashion & Beauty Edition #1

I find that during the winter months photos inspire me greatly, and help chase away those winter blues of not knowing what to wear or how to do my makeup.

What can I say? I thrive more during the warmer months. Colder weather just drains the inspiration from me on how to style just about anything. I find myself copying pictures from Instagram, Pinterest, or even my sisters [mostly Gaby].

I recently picked up a black pleated midi skirt at Banana Republic Factory & I have been busy looking at tons of photos for styling ideas. I kinda have more ideas once warmer weather hits for styling this skirt.

Hello lovelies! It is the start of a new year filled with possible changes [No, I'm not currently in a relationship with a guy]. I've already started purging things out of my room & wardrobe. I really want to narrow down to my core favorite items within my wardrobe -- but that is proving hard for this sentimental lady who also loves to dapple with various styles. But I have found some pieces that are very mush like my Pinterest style at Simply Chic & Goodwill this last year, so that will make it somewhat easy. #not

Anyhow, I thought I would share some of my goals for this year & if I really accomplished any of my goals from last year.

Goals from 2015

Learn how to do my brows & to discover my favorite products for them.

Save up enough money to go to London, England with my sister, Gaby, best friend, Achaia, and her sister, Abiah in 2016.

Get back into sewing, since I miss doing it.

Make a blogging schedule and stick to it.

Create an e-pattern to sell.

Goals accomplished in 2015

Yes, I did learn how to do my brows and found some amazing products that work for me. I did have to go to higher-end brands like: Benefit & Anastasia of Beverly Hills to locate some products that work for my brows, but they are totally worth the price to me.

Nope. I didn't save any money for London. Mostly because I suffered from tons of car problems this past year, so that took much of my money.

I didn't get too much into sewing this past year, but I did design & sewed a 1950s styled halter dress in August. #babysteps

Never got around to making a blogging schedule, but I seriously need to. I feel like my blog has really suffered last year, and most of my posting has shifted to Instagram since I bought an iPhone last year and it is quick & easy for my up-and-down schedule and life.

The idea to create an e-pattern had completely disappeared from my memory a couple of months into the year last year.

Blogging Highlights from 2015

Connected with many PRs and brands over the year, several of which are long time favorites of mine: Covergirl, Butter London, Proganix, Yes to..., Pacifica Beauty, and Borghese are some of those brands.

My Instagram has really taken off this past year as I've worked on improving it and trying to create a look for my account.

Did a couple of sponsored posts this summer which paid for my girls weekend trip to Chicago at the end of June.

Was able to meet up with the Boyer girls with my sisters for a fun day filled with lots of talking and shopping.

Hosted two blog events: #1outfit3ways & #AutumnTrendsBF

Started to incorporate a lot more beauty posts into Bramblewood Fashion.

Goals for 2016

Save up for a "new" car [not sure how long my current car is going to last]

Look into becoming a makeup artist + possibly going to school

Go on a weekend trip to Nashville

Learn how to contour properly [already own the LORAC contour palette]

Upload a Youtube at least every two or three weeks

Post a blog post at least once a week

Hello everyone! Recently I've been trying to get back into making YouTube videos, since I've kinda dropped off the face of YouTube for awhile and only pop-in every other month or more with one video. Yikes!

Anyhow, I've filmed a holiday makeup look featuring a burgundy & rose gold eye look [kinda my go-to look right now, though I'm kinda testing out some new drugstore products right now] and I did a Christmas OOTD collab video with a long-time YouTuber friend of mine, Yelena -- so fun!

Come January I really want to try to film & upload a video at least every two weeks. If I can do more, great! I want to share product reviews, makeup tutorials, outfit videos, hauls, and maybe some other kind of fun videos. So if y'all have any suggestions of what videos you would like to see, let me know!
Hello everyone! I've been meaning to do this blog post for awhile, but life has been crazy busy. I was contacted to do a review of K Couture's Design a Dress tool back near the end of September -- I said yes, especially since I hoped that the dress would be the perfect colour for a wedding I'm going to be in next May.

The dress arrived November 6th which was kinda the start of my busy season, hence I remember the day my dress arrived in the mail clearly even if I didn't get to try on the dress until a week or more later.
What I'm Wearing: Formal Dress c/o KCouture | Fur Scarf via J.Crew Factory [$10] | Earrings via Bauble Bar [gift]

I really like how my dress turned out using their Design a Dress tool. The dress fits perfectly, I just wish you could customize the length more and that they had more style options [though I see you can now make your dress out of lace]. Since I was hoping that I could wear this in an upcoming wedding next year, I went with the following options in designing my dress: chiffon, sewn in 1" waist trim, sleeveless, boat neckline, floor length, and in the colour wine.

Let me just say, the floor length is long. I'm 5'8" and I'm wearing my tallest heels with this dress which is 4" high and it is still slightly too long. [The length is slightly deceiving in these photos as the ground was damp, and my heels sunk into the ground a bit]. So if you were shorter than me, and didn't want to wear high heels with this dress, you would need to get the dress hemmed for you to wear it easily.

Overall I would recommend this company to anyone who is needing a formal dress customized to their personal taste. Also their prices are very reasonable for formal gowns, for example my dress costs only $129 + free ground shipping in the USA. Another great plus is that their gowns are made right here in the USA.Bramblewood Fashionhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15867338837999400697noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4346960377543157190.post-52979265608118894212015-12-15T20:18:00.001-05:002016-01-24T21:53:51.327-05:00Bloomsy Box Review

Hello everyone! I have a different kind of monthly subscription site to share with y'all today- one that revolves around flowers instead of beauty products, clothes, or even food.

Bloomsy box is a monthly subscription site that delivers a bouquet of flowers to your door every month. You pick out what plan works best for your budget to "treat yourself" to fresh flowers and they will pick out the flowers for you each month.
I was doing my daily watching of an FRIENDS episode or two before bed, when I noticed that Rachel was wearing an outfit that I could easily recreate. Turns out the next day I had a free afternoon to be able to wear a non-all black outfit so I took that opportunity to recreate my Rachel outfit.
I kinda updated the look a bit and customized it for my needs, but it definitely captures the look of Rachel's outfit. I opted for leggings over sweatpants. Boot socks over tennis shoes [considering I was staying-in for the rest of the day].
Hello everyone! The Christmas season is quickly approaching and for our family it is even more so. Why? Our family is celebrating Christmas next Friday since most of them are going to be in Florida for two weeks [including for Christmas] -- which means that me and Hanne will be staying in Indiana since we both will be busy working.

So in preparation of Christmas, our family went out on Monday evening to our favorite local Lowes to pick up our Christmas tree. Which was great fun, especially since us three older gals [myself, Gaby, and Hanne] bought some new ornaments for our tree. I'll have to share a picture sometime with y'all, as they are gorgeous.

To add to the festivities I pulled out the hot cocoa, marshmallows [peppermint flavored], and Christmas music whilst we decorated our tree. I only wish I had pulled out my record player too.
I was so excited to pick up this flannel top at Old Navy on Black Friday evening, as I have a major weakness for plaid [though I have a shocking lack of plaid in my wardrobe] and it was 50% off. Also I wouldn't mind owning several more plaid shirts to wear on my days off, or for even when I get off work early -- I love it that much during the winter months.

My Thanksgiving isn't going to be very relaxing considering I work in retail, as I will be working Thanksgiving evening and all Black Friday weekend [morning to evening]. No Black Friday shopping for me, unless I can do some online shopping before and after shifts [or get my family to shop for me]. Anyhow...onto some outfit ideas for the upcoming weekend.

I decided to show y'all a combination dressy and casual outfits for this weekend to fit whatever your mood may be. Though honestly any of the pieces featured in the above collage could be dressed up or down depending on how you style them.

I have no clue what I'm going to wear Thanksgiving day, but I know for work I'm going to wear dress pants as it is going to be crazy busy and I don't want to worry about my dress or skirt whilst working. What top I will wear is still unknown. I do know what makeup look I will be wearing this entire weekend. It will feature lots of rose golds, browns, and burgundies [my current favorite look].
The time I've been waiting for all year has arrived at Ulta Beauty. The time when we get our holiday discount. Of course, I've had my eye on many prestige items, but after planning for weeks I finally narrowed it down to my top wish list items.

1. LORAC PRO Contour Palette & Brush -- Ever since I first heard that LORAC was coming out with a contour palette, I wanted to give it a try. Their powder products feel like butter and their palette looked like a good match for those with fairer skin. Another bonus, it comes with a brush to contour with.
2. LORAC Unzipped Palette -- After becoming obsessed with rose golds and burgundy eyeshadows the past 2 months or so, this palette has really caught my eye. I tried it out a few times this year whenever I needed to amp up my eye makeup on truck mornings at work, and I was really impressed with the color payoff.

3. Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Whiz in Dark Brown -- My go-to product for my brows these days. I ran out earlier this week, so this product quickly became a need and not a want on my shopping list.

4. Stila Eternal Love Liquid Lipstick Set -- Recommended to me by one of my co-workers. The colors are beautiful, and she said they mix beautifully too. I can't wait to play around with them, as I've become obsessed with liquid lipsticks this autumn [especially darker grunge colors].

5. Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water --Another product that I've been eyeing ever since it came out earlier this year. One of my co-workers said it works kinda like MAC's Fix-Plus [another product I would like to try out someday] so it became a must on my list, as I want to dabble with wetting my shadows come the holiday season.

6. Revlon Matte Balm in Fiery -- I love the Revlon matte balms, so when I spotted this rich red color when it recently came out I knew I had to try it out. Let's hope the color lives up to the packaging, 'cause as I mentioned earlier I'm really loving darker colors right now for the lips [and eyes really].

7 & 8. Bonus Add-On Samples | LORAC Behind the Scenes Eye Primer & Tarte Smooth Operator Finishing Powder -- The LORAC eye primer came with my Unzipped palette and I was able to pick out the Tarte finishing powder as my free gift as we were all out of the LORAC free gift when I was checking out.

Eventually I want to try out several of Too Faced's products [their chocolate bronzer, chocolate bar eyeshadow palette, candlelight highlighter, and Born This Way foundation], Smashbox's powder foundation, Bare Minerals powder foundation and pressed blushes, Urban Decay's setting sprays & NAKED foundation, and It Cosmetics CC Cream. All of these will come with time though, as I have several drugstore foundations to work through right now. Though I'm really loving my Jouer Matte Moisture Tint for the autumn months [which sadly isn't sold at Ulta Beauty].
