Zooey's style is the perfect blend of: quirky, modern, classic, and vintage. She has a way of keeping vintage clothing from looking too much like a costume, by adding the right blend of modern pieces to her finished look.
When shopping for her style keep your eye out for the following details: vintage details [especially for the 60s - 70s], polka-dots, quirky flower prints, bright colors, Peter Pan collars, stripes, high-waisted skirts, cardigans in classic styles, gingham, etc....
If you are totally unsure what styles are from the 1960s & 1970s research them out either on the internet or at your local library. If you have a good understanding of fashion history, it will help you form an eye of what looks vintage -- besides the Hollywood cliches from the 70s/80s. You can also study old family photos, magazines from the era, sewing patterns from the era, etc....
I've thrown together a few Polyvore sets to help inspire you even more to copy Zooey's style.
To help you shop her style even more I have created a shop on thredUP featuring a bunch of clothing, shoes, accessories that I think Zooey Deschanel might wear. Feel free to browse it for inspiration, or to purchase something. BTW, if you sign up for thredUP via my link, you will get $20 to spend on your first purchase.

Zooey did an interview over at byrdie.com sharing what her beauty routine is back in July of 2013 that y'all can check out. I must say, her favorite lipsticks are all ones that I've eyed over the past couple of years but never splurged on -- yet.
Also check out this fun video that Zooey did with PopSugar Beauty in January of 2013 where she shares some of her inspirations, how she got started in makeup, etc...

Ah, I love Zooey! She's absolutely adorable and seems like such an amazing woman. I love how her style is so uniquely hers. :)
ReplyDeleteInteresting...I think her stay is very vintage, it kind of reminds me of Taylor Swift's style!
