1940s Themed Movie Night!

Hello everyone! Last night my sisters and I hosted a 1940s themed movie night with our friend Becca and we watched Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo [1944] because ever since...umm...this past Valentines Day we've been wanting to get together to watch it. Yeah, it took us awhile to get this done, but we finally did it. Yay!

Becca thought it would be fun if we dressed up 1940s for our movie night, so we pulled out our forties inspired clothing, red lipstick, heels, and put victory rolls and pin curls in our hair. We also blasted Benny Goodman music whilst we got ready. Anything to help us get in the mood for the evening.

Originally I was going to wear a Ginger Rogers inspired outfit with my 1940s trousers and a blouse. Turns out they don't fit like they used to anymore, and they hang funny on me now. So I opted for my 1940s Swing Dress that I sewed back in 2010 [pattern review can be found here] instead as it still fits me like a dream.

What I'm Wearing
Swing Dress -- Made By Me
Pep-toe Heels -- Simply Chic
Pin -- Vintage via Antique Mall
Vintage Inspired Earrings -- Claire's

Makeup Used for this Look: Foundation: Revlon Nearly Naked in 110, Concealer: Urban Decay NAKED SKIN in Light Neutral, Blush: Benefit Cosmetics in Bella Bamba, EyeShadow: Urban Decay NAKED Basics Palette [W.O.S. & Naked 2], Eyeliner: Bare Minerals Liner Shadow in Midnight Sky, Brow: e.l.f Eyebrow Kit in Medium, Lipstick: Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Standout, Face Powder: Coty Airspun Loose Face Powder in Translucent Extra Coverage.

  5. You gals look amazing! You should totally wear 1940s styles more: you pull it off so naturally well! And Ashley, I feel your pain about not fitting into your old makes. I've experienced too many of my favorite pieces, thrifted and handmade, having to be handed up to Jess or Brigi, or donated to Goodwill. *sob*
