What I Wore | Let's Twist Again, Like We Did Last Summer

It is the first day of July today, which means only 4 more days until my birthday. Eeep. I have some fun plans for my birthday: hanging out with a bunch of girl friends downtown, eat dinner at Ted's Montana Grill with my family in the evening, and perhaps watch a movie with my sisters that night [or an episode of Doctor Who].

Anyhow, onto today's outfit which has a vintage 1950s feel to it. Would you believe it, but this was my fourth outfit that I tried on when getting dressed this morning. Yeah, it was one of those days, but it came out alright in the end as I went with a 1960s/early 60 inspired outfit, since I've been listening to the music from The Help soundtrack almost nonstop this past week.

What I'm Wearing
Crocheted Lace Tank Blouse -- Liz Claiborne via Thrift Store [$8]
Circle Skirt -- Made by Me [post]
Sandals -- Target [$16]
Red Satchel Bag -- Forever 21 [$19.80]
Earrings -- Charming Charlie [$3]
Monogram Necklace -- c/o ONecklace
Lipstick -- Revlon in Love That Pink
Nail Polish -- Essie in Bikini so Teeny

It has been about a year, or so since I've pulled out this circle skirt to wear. Mostly because I wasn't sure if it still fit me, since I have gained some weight within the past year [mostly because of some medication I'm on] and not all of my clothes that I have sewn fit me anymore, and neither do my actual vintage clothes [which is sad]. But this past week, I tried on every piece of clothing I own to see what I wanted to keep, and what to toss/donate since I want to get rid of everything I'm not in-love with. *smiles* Also, it is nice to know that now everything that is still in my wardrobe does fit me, and that I love everything. I highly recommend that you go through your wardrobe several times a year, if you are really into fashion & shopping [like me]. As I have gotten rid of several bags of clothes this past week, and I was able to sell some of it to a local consignment thrift store [but they didn't take all of it], so now I'm wondering what to do with the rest, since right now it is all sitting in my car. Anyone up for a "shop my closet" sale on FB or Instagram?

  4. Your outfit is gorgeous Ashley! I'm a July birthday too...happy almost birthday! :) I've watched The Help, and love the film, but really need to read the book.
I'm actually getting rid of a lot of clothes and ordered a bag from Thred Up to see what they will take...whatever they don't take they donate, so it seems like a win-win to me! I'd definitely check out a shop my closet if you did one, though! :)

The colors, the print, and the shoes in this outfit have fun vibe and are a little bit quirky. Cute!
