What I Wore | Parisian Chic

This year I have really fallen in love with the colour black, knits, and outfits that are styled simply -- this combination is the perfect code for creating timeless & classy looking outfits. Which reminds me, what style challenge would y'all like to do this month in a link-up? Let me know your thought down below! I'm planning on having the link-up sometime in the middle of June, just so you know. *smile*

What I'm Wearing
Skirt -- Banana Republic via Thrift Store [hand-me-up from Gaby]
Sandals -- Target [$24.99]
Hat -- H&M [$12.95]
Fawn Necklace -- Forever 21 [$2.80]
Bow Ring -- Madewell [gift]
Lipstick -- Rimmel Lasting Finish in Bordeaux 124 [$2.94]
Manicure Nail Color -- Essie in Mint Candy Apple
Pedi Nail Color -- Revlon Parfumerie in Bordeaux

I was recently given the opportunity to try out some basic tees from modbod, a company that has been working hard at creating the perfect tees to layer under blazers, dresses, etc..., or to be worn standalone [like I did in today's outfit] as a basic tee. After eyeing the size chart for awhile, I finally decided to try out the size Medium, and for this style of tee it fits snugly & perfectly in all the right places. Of course, if you don't like a more snug fit for your tees, I recommend you size up from your normal size. In the next couple of weeks you will be seeing me also style their red version of this tee, and the Double-V Neck Tee shirt set.

  1. I also LOVE simple outfits. They're absolutely beautiful and elegant--and they make it LOOK like you really know how to put a lot into your outfit with only a few items. (Economical, I guess it's called :))

Oooh, I'd love a style challenge--as I'd actually be able to do one this time around, since I've started my fashion blog! Olivia over at Fresh Modesty recently styled a fancy skirt in a casual way; I, personally, would love to get more experienced at that, so maybe that would be a good possibility for a challenge.

  3. I love this! I would've never thought black could be so summerish, I stand corrected:) The shirt and skirt look like a dress together, and I love the hat too! ~Heaven

  4. What is a style challenge? Is it where we say what style you should wear in your next "What I Wore"? Or are we supposed to vote on a style, and all wear something related to the style chosen? Whether the answer is either A or B, I vote something 1950's related! :)
(Sorry, I haven't been a reader to this blog long enough to know what a style challenge is.)

    1. A style challenge is where we all wear one item for three days, three different ways. Here is an example: http://www.bramblewoodfashion.com/search/label/1%20Button%20Down%20%7C%203%20Days%7C%203%20Ways

  5. Your hair looks really cute here! Is something different? A cut? Straightened? Love it! ♥

    1. Both! I recently had my hair cut into a lob, and here I have straightened it.

  6. This is such a sweet outfit. Love it with your new hair cut. So lovely, like Rory Gilmore at the end of season 4. :) -Alexandra

  7. This is lovely! The length of the skirt combined with the fact that it's all black makes you look (imho) very tall and willowy. :)

And of course your shoes are fabulous.

  8. I would wear this outfit. It's simple and chic and not overly dressy, making it appropriate to wear everyday.

I hope to be a part of the next link-up! I didn't get to do the last one :(

  9. Very cute Ashley! I like the black with black, and the hat adds a nice contrast.
