My Favorite Hair Products | My Beauty Picks

On my OOTD picture that I posted this past Sunday on Instagram, I received some comments on how great my hair looked. I thought I would share with y'all, what I did to my hair & how I keep it looking healthy and soft. I'll be sharing with y'all my favorite hair products, when I apply them, and how I use them. Of course, you might need to adapt this to fit your hair type. What is my hair type? Well, I have kinda thin hair, but it has some slight natural waves/loose ringlets [depending on how well I keep up with my haircare routine].
 1. Pantene Pro V Daily Moisture Shampoo [$6.49 for the giant tub, which btw will last you for several months] -- Over the years I have tried out a good number of shampoos, most of which were from natural brands. But for me, those brands just didn't work out for my hair: as most of them gave me dandruff and no matter how much I washed my hair, it never went away. That is until I tried out this Pantene shampoo on a whim, I spotted it at Target [where else where I be?] and noticed it was clearance for $2. I tried it out for several weeks & loved how it made my hair silky soft and cleared up dandruff problem. I have been using this shampoo for about a year now, and don't see myself replacing with another shampoo anytime soon.

When applying shampoo to your hair, don't apply it all over your hair. I know that sounds strange, but you only need the shampoo at your scalp. Lather the shampoo in your hands and then apply it your scalp in messaging motions, then rinse it out letting the shampoo run down your ends.

2. OGX Nourishing Coconut Milk Conditioner [$7.99 at Ulta or $5.99 at Walmart] -- Over the years I have gone, off-and-on with using conditioner in my hair, but never really show the purpose. Then a couple years ago I discovered Kate from The Small Things who explained the purpose of conditioner. And can I just say, I have learned most of what I know about hair from Kate, so defiantly check her out if you have never seen her blog.

Anyhow, since using the Organix conditioners I have noticed a huge difference in my hair [it has made it so healthy & soft]! I apply it just to my ends [from about just-below my ear all the way down] and let it sit for about 5 minutes, before rinsing it out.

3. It's A 10 Miracle Leave-In Plus Keratin [$20 at Ulta] -- After hearing Ingrid from MissGlamorazzi rave about this product for awhile now, I was excited to receive this product for FREE from Ulta with a recent purchase. I tried it out, and it has really help keep my hair detangled and reduce frizz [especially with my hair becoming longer]. After coming out of the shower & I have towel dried my hair, I spritz this all over and then comb it out with a wide-tooth comb.

After I let my hair dry mostly, I put it up in a messy bun until completely dried [or just slightly damp]. Typically, I take my showers at night [right before bed] as my hair does better then, so I'm sleeping with that slightly-damp messy bun in my hair.

4. Batiste Dry Shampoo in Original or Blush [$7.99 at Ulta] -- Dry Shampoo is a must have for any girl's hair product stash! Not only is it good for those days when your hair is looking limp & oily and you don't have time to wash your hair, but dry shampoo is also great for adding lift & body to your hairstyles. There is a bit of a trick to applying dry shampoo, as it leaves a white residue on your hair, making you look kinda like Anna from Frozen. To prevent this from happening, you will need to do the following:

  • Spray the dry shampoo where needed on the scalp [you will need to lift your hair up when spraying].
  • Let it sit for a couple minutes on your scalp, that way it can work to it's full potential. This will also help with the white residue problem.
  • Once it has sit for a little bit, rub it into your hair and scalp and you should see any white hairs. :)

5. Big Sexy Hair Spray & Play Volumizing Hair Spray [$17.95 at Ulta] -- I have tried out several different hairsprays since becoming more interested in styling my hair [when I was about 16], and my recent and current love is the Big Sexy hairsprays. Their hairsprays are lightweight, leaves the hair manageable, and helps keep your style in place for hours. Another bonus about their products is that they have a very light scent, which is awesome since some of my family members are sensitive to scents. There have been some hairsprays that I have tried out and loved, that bothered my family so I couldn't go around them right after spraying [not good for Sunday mornings when we are all in one mini-van and they could smell my hairspray]. Yeah, this brand is pricy but it works for my needs and you can get it on sale for $9 sometimes at Ulta, plus you can use your $3.50 off coupon that Ulta hands-out ALL the time to bring down the price even more.

I hope y'all found this helpful! Perhaps sometime I can share my hair styling tools & how I use them. Would y'all like that kind of post? Let me know down below in the comments. Also, what are your favorite hair products?
