30 for 30 Remix Challenge ❘❘ Day 17

::What I'm Wearing::
Hot Pink Pencil Skirt -- Made by Me
Refashioned '80s Blouse -- Thrifted
Necklace -- c/o Max & Chloe

Today was kinda a low-key day for me (but you couldn't tell from today's outfit), I reorganized some things in my room, filmed my April favorites video, and cooked dinner with Hanne-col while listening to Michael Buble's latest album & the Jack Benny Radio Show

About my outfit for today, I started out wearing my jean jacket, but it really warmed up later in the day so I took that off. I kinda feel like today's outfit is kinda a late '50s/early '60s inspired outfit with the pencil skirt & loose blouse. Anyhow, I adore this skirt and I can't wait for this challenge to be over so I can find more tops that can go with it. The refashioned blouse is one of my favorites, mostly because of the lace & how long it is on me. Because of the length it looks amazing with skinny jeans (which is an outfit combination I will do during this challenge if it is ever warm, when I am wearing my jeans).

Y'all can link up your outfit post below.

  1. That's such a pretty outfit, and it looks like something I might wear too! I absolutely love the silhouette. The designer/seamstress side of my has a few questions: What kind of fabric is the blouse? What did the blouse originally look like? How did you alter it? (because I'm a copycat and want one just like it!! ;)

    1. The fabric for this blouse is just cotton, and it originally had those big '80s sleeves (like this: http://www.etsy.com/listing/97383806/vintage-secretary-blouse-satin-draped). To alter the blouse I just cut off the sleeves and that is it. I have a tutorial here: http://www.emilynicoleblog.com/2012/07/diy-refashioning-blouse-guest-post-by.html

      And because I get so many questions when ever I wear these refashioned '80s/'90s blouses, I'm planning on doing a video talking about how I refashion them, how the arm hole looks after they have been worn & washed, etc... :) So look forward to that!

  2. You are *so* awesome and beautiful! That hot pink pencil skirt is amazing. And how did you manage to pair red nail polish with pink -- and still have it look good?! :)

    1. Hehe...I'm not sure. Maybe because red is just such a classic nail color, it tends to look good with just about anything. :)
