Going Through the Era's // Fashionable Friday {1970s/or favorite era}

Hello everyone, this is Gabrielle again doing today's post. Ashley couldn't find 70-ish clothes in her wardrobe, so she said I could do todays post. And I said she could model my dress. *smile* Anyway, I made this dress several weeks ago in the middle or March for a wedding I attended. It is from a 1967 vintage pattern {Simplicity 6654}. I bought the pattern and material way back in December and January, but due to classes I couldn't sew it until March. The pattern turned out splendidly. I was afraid it might turn out too small {the pattern is junior size 11, 31 - 24 1/2 - 33 1/2}, but it didn't. The material was a very soft gray twill I bought on Fabric.com. They had a New Year's sale going on so I got it pretty cheap.

Isn't it lovely? It remind me of Sandra Dee in That Funny Feeling. That is a good thing because her outfits are very pretty. On me the dress is about two inches longer. Here is a picture where you can see the dress is very similar. She is with her husband, singer Bobby Darin, having fun on set of a film.

Here is another one you can see if you want to. I hope you enjoyed this post, and like the dress. You might see me wearing it other times this summer.

Now, link up below everyone!

  2. Oh, Gaby, it's LOVELY!! (And, Ash, you are a fabulous model!) I love the color of your dress too. Oh, Sandra Dee looks so cute, and you are absolutely right, your dress is almost identical to hers! (I love it when that happens.)

  3. I love the 1970's era! I even have a skirt that reminds me of that era, it's a pari of jeans refashioned into a skirt! Reminds me of the bell bottoms back then!
