What I Wore - Ruffly Maxi Skirt

What I'm Wearing: Pink Ruffle Maxi Skirt Made by Me // Black Ruffle Tee H&M // Black Tank J.C.Penny // Oxford Heels F21 // Silver Dangle Earrings F21

I highly recommend using this ruffle fabric for your next skirt sewing project. It is fairly easy to work with {no hemming needed!}, you just need to make sure your ruffles are laying flat when you pin the sides. I'm also really loving maxi skirts right now. Mostly because of an awesome vintage {1960s?} maxi skirt that was given to me last Friday {I'm wearing it today}. Which by the way, if you are wondering what pattern I used - I didn't use one. I just traced the outline of the vintage maxi and added some ease for the elastic band around the hips. Very easy. When I make another ruffle maxi skirt {yep, I want to make another one, but in another color} I'll have to do a tutorial for y'all. Anyways, I made this skirt mostly for a wedding I was attending last Saturday morning. Yep, I enjoy sewing my outfit for an event the night before. I thrive on last minute projects. *grin*

This skirt drags on the floor when I don't wear heels. But I like it that way. It is very girly & romantic. This skirt is also very comfy (like pj's comfy). I can easily see myself living in this skirt come spring & summer. Oooh, cowgirl boots would look amazing peeking out from underneath the ruffles.

  4. I love it! It looks great! I love hte ruffle fabric, but I'm kind of scared of sewing the side-seams part and getting everything to lay flat. But I don't know. Maybe I'll try it at some point. :) I love drag-on-the-floor maxi skirts as well. Since I'm 5'10"-11", it's rare when something's actually long enough to drag on the ground, so when it is I love it!

  7. Love the ruffles! It's a great idea to make a maxi skirt out of that material. I've only seen it used on minnie skirts. I might have to make me one now. :)
    Have a great week!

I have a red ruffle skirt that hits right at my ankles. I completely agree with you... the fabric is so wonderful, it does feel like you're practically wearing pj pants! I love the stretch it has in it.

  12. I love that outfit, I'm not the type that wears for many ruffles, but the length and style of the skirt is something I would wear!

Oh and I found a really cool skirt that is so totally a 1970's style! Take an old pair of jeans, rip the inside leg seams and sew fabric in between to make a flared skirt, old pants, new skirt!
