Sewing Bee | Color me Confident {Book Review}

For today's Sewing Bee link-up post I'm going to do a book review.

Color Me Confident by: Veronique Henderson and Pat Henshaw - I know this isn't a sewing book, but it does help you pick out what styles & colors look best on you. Which is helpful when sewing your own clothes.

My version {2006} isn't the new updated version. So the clothes & celebrity styles they use are a little outdated, but it does serve its purpose: to help show you what colors look best on you, what clothing looks best on you, and to help show you what your design style is.

What I loved about this book is how it is written in a checklist & pictures format. It makes it so easy to find your colors, what clothes look best on you, and what your design style is. Like I found out that my coloring is Deep & Cool. I'm a triangle. My design style is Creative, Romantic, and Classic. Now, some of this information I already knew. But having a list of dos and don'ts with pictures I found most helpful for me personally.

  1. I am going right away to my library site to see if they have this book-it is exactly the sort of book I love! I own Color Me Beautiful which started me on the color adventure.

  2. This sounds like fun! My mother-in-law gave me a copy of 'Color Me Beautiful' (similar ideas, just from the '80s!), and I've been collecting fabric swatches that match 'my' colors ever since. Definitely helps me make better sewing and shopping decisions! I'd like to see this different book, though, since it sounds much more updated and comprehensive.

    I wonder how different "deep and cool" is from the old "winter". I know I'm an "autumn"-- maybe that makes me "deep and warm"? Hm!

  5. I definitely want to keep an eye out for this book! We have the Color Me Beautiful book from the 80s (verrry outdated, but hilarious to look at all the interesting styles then! *grin), but this one looks so good.
    Oh, no. Now I want to know just what I am. *smile*
    Much love!

  6. Like my fellow commenters above, I also own "Color Me Beautiful", but you've piqued my curiosity about this book. Sounds a bit more generalized, which can be good, as I've found that nobody I ever gave the "color test" to was ever 100% "Winter" or "Spring"--they were always a mixture! Thanks for sharing!

    God bless,
