30 for 30 Remix - Outfit 8

Floral Yoked Skirt made by yours truly / White Ruffle T-shirt Ann Taylor / Owl Ring Kohl's / White & Red polka-dot Dangle Earring Etsy / Tan Boots Target

This evening it was very windy hence the hoop skirt look. :) I have a feeling my skirts & dresses will have this look all week. You see, we are to have rain and storms all week and that brings lots of wind to our area. :)

Some of you might remember that I posted about making this skirt back on May 24th. I did finish making it that evening, but when I wore it the next day we had tornado warnings all that evening {I was gone all day} - not good weather for taking pictures. I also wore it to our home-school convention in hopes that I might get some pictures downtown. But I was having way too much fun with my new friends and enjoying the convention in general to take pictures. Which is why it has taken this long for you to see pictures. {I have even more sewing projects that I never took pictures of in my closet.} -_-

::Fashion Tip:: My ruffles on my shirts never want to stay down. They always want to just pop up. Even after I give them a good ironing. :p Recently I discovered a way to keep them down. Use either scotch tape or double sided tape to tape the ruffles down underneath. It works like a charm. Just remember to take the tape out when you are done.

::Giveaway:: Jessica over at What I Wore is having a giveaway for her new book of the same name. She is giving away 10 copies of her book. I'm hoping to win a copy as I adore her outfits {at least her vintage-y ones}. Click here for the giveaway. Here are some of my favorite outfits of hers.

Tissue Paper Pom-Poms DIY Tutorial

In this post I mentioned I was going to be making my own tissue paper pom-poms. Well, guess what girls? I tried it out this afternoon to get a feel for it and if it worked, take pictures for a tutorial. As you can tell from this post's title - it worked out like a dream! =) Without further ado, the tutorial to make your very own tissue paper pom-poms.

You will need tissue paper {any color you want. I bought mine at Joann Fabrics.}; Ribbon {I'm using curling ribbon.}; and Scissors.

Take a stack of about 8 - 10 sheets of tissue paper and start folding according style 1 - 1 1/2 inches.

Once it is all folded, take a piece of ribbon {long enough to tie around the tissue paper and hang up your pom-pom} and tie it around the center of your tissue paper.

Cut the ends with either a rounded, or pointed look. Depends on how you want your pom-poms to look. Be careful, it can be hard cutting through all those layers. :)

Open it up like a paper fan you used to make while growing up.

Separate each layer of tissue paper gently, you don't want the tissue to rip. Then fluff out your pom-pom to get this look....

Look you created your very own tissue paper pom-pom! Go crazy and create a ton of these for weddings, parties, and just to decorate around your home.

30 for 30 Remix - Outfit 7

Chambray Tunic J.C. Penny / Green Floral Skirt made by yours truly / Tan Boots Target / Cameo Necklace Portobello Road Market / Owl Ring Kohl's / Pearl Drop Earrings Etsy

I just realized that I wore this skirt last Monday. :) I'll have to make sure that I don't wear it again next Monday, otherwise I'll be in a Monday only skirt rut. This is also the first time I ever wore the chambray tunic with a skirt.  Last week I discover that if you loosely tie the front, you can wear the shirt with other things besides jeans and Capri's. Otherwise it is just too long for most skirts - well, the ones I wear in the summer.

Vintage Birthday Party DIY List

1. Tissue Paper Pom Poms - I love the look of these tissue paper pom poms that I found on Etsy. But instead of buying them off Etsy I'll just make my own. I already have a bunch of tissue paper in my stash {comes from having many hobbies, like making paper flowers when I was around 14 - 15}. If they turn out alright, I might do a tutorial. :)

2. Fabric Banner - I love the look of this fabric banner I found on Etsy. I have no idea where I would hang it up. Oh I know. I'll just have it drape along the wall. Yes, that will work out just dandy. Once again I won't be buying this, but making my own. This will be perfect for all my scraps. :)

3. Decorate the table with vintage patterns, magazines, and pictures. Using patterns from my stash and magazines I have collected over the years. It will help bring in that vintage vibe. As for pictures, I'll just print some of my favorite vintage pictures & old Hollywood pictures off my macbook. :)

4. What I wish I had.... A train case would be nice. As would vintage tablecloths, napkins, and dishes. But I don't have any of these at this time - maybe someday I will. :) There are some lovelies on Etsy.

Before I go, let me show you some inspirational pictures of some shabby chic, vintage-themed, parties & picnics.

30 for 30 Remix - Day 6

Black Pencil Skirt made by your truly / Pink Blouse Hand-me-down J.C. Penny / Boyfriend Blazer J.C. Penny / Black Pumps Famous Footwear / Owl Ring Kohl's / Pearl Earrings Gift

This is what I wore to church today - which I'm excited to say, I've never worn this outfit combination before. When you only have thirty pieces to work with you really learn to mix your outfits up and try new things. I love it!

I've been asked several times how I learned to sew over the years. That I decided to do a post on that subject sometime soon. :)

30 for 30 Remix - Day 5

Mixed Pattern Top Anthropologie / White Tank J.C. Penny / Cream Cardigan Gap Outlet /  Jeans J.C. Penny / Sandals Forever 21 / Pearl Earrings Gift / Owl Ring Kohl's / Silver Ring J.C. Penny / Black Belt Forever 21

I'm very happy that I made it through this week with a different outfit combination each day. When you have to take pictures of your outfit everyday and you are in a challenge, you have to change up your outfit combination.  Otherwise y'all would get bored of my outfit posts. :)

This afternoon I change my whole blog look - hopefully it loads a lot faster for y'all! :) And I hope you all like the new look. Let me know what you think about it. If you can't tell, I'm really loving pink right now. I have no idea why.

30 for 30 Remix - Day 4

Striped Shirt Kohl's / White 1920s Dress made by yours truly / Anchor Necklace Forever 21 / Sandals Forever 21 / Pearl Earrings Gift

Yesterday I broke the rules. I wore a shirt that wasn't from the thirty items I picked out. But that is ok. I was painting a bedroom set for a film that is going to filmed this summer. :) I didn't get any pictures because first, I was just wearing my jeans, favorite baseball team t-shirt, sandals, and pearl earrings. Nothing fancy. Which was the point. So today's outfit is day four of the thirty day challenge, even though technically it is day five.

I was feeling very nautical today. Hence the stripes and anchor. I don't know if you noticed, but I'm not wearing a white skirt instead I just pulled my top over the white dress. The nice thing is that you have a built in tank underneath.

Today I burned movies unto DVDs and worked on creating a whole new look for Bramblewood Fashion. The new look might be released next week. It depends how fast I can get it done. I'm hoping that new look will load a lot faster and there will be more room for sponsors. :) Here's a sneak peek to the new look.

Like it? :)

30 for 30 Remix - Day 3

Hot Pink Blouse Hand-me-down {J.C.Penny} / White Linen Skirt Made by yours truly / Cream Cardigan Gap Outlet / Cameo Necklace Portobello Road Market / Tan Boots Target / Earrings Etsy {won in a giveaway} / Ring J.C.Penny

I suppose I must give you the story on the change of background. :) The pictures were taken on our Church grounds - which are beautiful! The wood behind me in the last picture is from a tree that lived during the 1700s. Isn't that amazing. :) Back to why I was at Church. Once a month a bunch of us girls cook and serve lunch for the Seniors in our church. I've been doing it for several years now.

The next two days will be interesting for my outfits. I'm going to be working on building sets for a movie and well, the clothing I pick out isn't the best for that type of work. If I knew earlier that I would be working on a movie set, I would have picked out a t-shirt or something more casual than blouses, nice skirts, and dresses. But then again, my style is more of a dressy type than casual.
