Christy TV show {1994-1995} |
Now when ever I watch the TV show Christy, I want to copy Christy's whole wardrobe. It also makes me wish I had longer hair, so I could copy her hairstyles - which are beautiful!

Road to Avonlea {1990 - 1996} |
Road to Avonlea - one of my favorite recent TV Shows {yes, I know the 90s aren't really recent. The show first came out in 1990 - 21 years ago}, besides Christy of course. I mean what's not to like. It takes place in Avonlea, has wonderful costumes, great actors & actresses, and has characters from Anne of Green Gables that are left out of the movies {Davy & Dory Keith}. Oh, the soundtrack is pretty awesome too. :)
I think Aunt Olivia has the best wardrobe. Then comes Felicity King and Sarah Stanley.
What are some of your favorite TV Shows/Movies for inspiration?
"I Love Lucy," "The Dick Van Dyke Show," and basically any old movies (before the 60s).
ReplyDeleteI need to watch "Christy." I see it all the time in stores. I read the book several years ago, and I own my grandma's old copy of the book, but I never got around to watching the show.

I looooooove Road to avonlea!
ReplyDeleteYeah,I would have to agree on the wardrobes that you picked and in the order.
Although in one season Felicity does borrow and wear some of Sarahs dresses from paris that are to big for Sarah!
Oh! I've seen that second movie...I recognized it from the photos.(: It was really sweet! I'd love to see it again.
ReplyDeleteI L-O-V-E LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE {I wish I could capitalize that more ;)} Road to Avonlea. I have not watched it in awhile now, but am re-watching the seventh season, which we own, again. I didn't realize how much I have missed it.
ReplyDeleteI agree, Olivia has a great wardrobe, but towards the end, Felicity has sophisticated taste. ;)
Blessings,
Grace
Ooh yes, The Magic of Ordinary Days is a lovely movie! You should watch it. I'm thinking of buying it.
ReplyDeleteWe have been enjoying Lark Rise to Candleford. Beautiful clothes!!!
Genevieve
Oh my, Christy's hair in the third picture is absolutely romantic!! I would love my hair to do that!
ReplyDeleteFor fancy hairstyles, I look at any Jane Austen movie; for simpler ones, I go to "Anne of Green Gables".
If I could dress any way I wanted, I would again dress like Anne. All of their clothes were so feminine and romantic!
Love in Christ,
Vicki
I have Magic of Ordinary Days. All of the clothes are quite lovely :) If you can't find a copy, you could have mine. I haven't watched it in forever.
ReplyDeleteThe Magic of Ordinary Day is a very cute movie! I'd recommend it! :) I love that time period a lot..so maybe I am a bit biased! :)
ReplyDeleteI love to watch Christy and would have to agree that she is beautiful! I love her hair!

I just started watching Road to Avonlea (we're still in the first season), and got pretty excited when you commented that Davy and Dora are in it! :) I was disappointed they weren't in the Anne movies.
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree, Aunt Olivia has such pretty clothes!
The magic of ordinary days is a very sweet movie, its one of my favorites. April love and Daddy long legs also have lots of pretty 50s dresses in them.
ReplyDeleteFor me when I was younger it was Clueless. I would dress up all my barbies like the characters. I also like Jude Harrison's character from Instant Star.

I'm completely with you, Ashley! I get a ton of inspiration from TV shows and movies. You've found some great style inspiring shows! Probably right now I'm actually finding more inspiration from some good WW2 movies (I've been seeing quite a few of those lately)--- thanks to my brothers for completely selling me on them!
ReplyDeleteNeat! I love the costumes from Christy and Anne of Green Gables.
ReplyDeleteMiss Ashley,
ReplyDeleteWha ta lovely blog that you have.... filled with godliness and femine virtues. I {and my family} enjoy watching Christy, and it is always a joy to see her long skirts as she works upon the mountain. Little House on the Praire also has so many sweet clothing...
I was blessed to find your lovely blog through Miss Grace {Grace's Garden Walk} and look forward to viewing more.
In Christ,
~Shannon~
Oh, I really want to see The Magic of Ordinary Days. Every time it's on Hallmark I always only see the same single scene before the channel is switched back to an action movie or the news. Grace sent me on over. I love your etsy shop!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love Road to Avonlea, and the costumes (especially in the 7th season). Have you seen Wind at my Back? It's made by the same people, and it's set in the 1930s, and has some great costumes as well. I love the dresses...and sometimes hats too...shoes, purses, all those accessories. :)
ReplyDeleteI've always liked the clothes on Christy, too. :)
I totally love Christy, and I even own it and I adore her outfits!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love Road to Avonlea! I watched all the seasons with my mom a couple of years ago. We were so hooked, we had to finish them quickly so things could start getting done again! The clothes on that show are lovely =)
ReplyDeleteKristin- Ah, yes. "I Love Lucy" and "The Dick Van Dyke Show" are great for inspiration too! Did you know you can watch all of the "Christy" episodes on YouTube? :)
ReplyDeleteGenevieve - One of my friends has been telling me about "Lark Rise to Candleford" and saying that I have to see it. :)
Vicki - Ah, yes. Anne's wardrobe has to be one of the best ever! :)
Megan.Margaret - You wouldn't mind not having a copy yourself?
Marie - It's one of my favorite eras too. :)
Anna - I'll have to look into those movies.
Achaia - You'll have to tell me about those WW2 movies. :)
Shannon - Aw, thanks! Oh, I forgot about Little House on the Prairie. I used to watch that show all the time.
Melody - No, I haven't seen Wind at my Back. I'll have to look into locating a copy. :)
I love all the ones you mentioned! If I could have two wardrobes from TV shows/movies, I would pick Anne Shirley's and Christy's. They are a *dream*.
