Who Inspires Me (Fashion Wise) | Judy Garland

The next on the list is Judy Garland. Now a year ago I hadn't seen one Judy Garland film. Now, I have seen almost every film that Judy Garland & Mickey Rooney filmed together. :) There is also another reason why I have chosen Judy. She is one of Gabrielle's favorite actresses and well, tomorrow is Gabrielle's birthday. {I'll have a special post for her tomorrow.} =)

"Easter Parade" - Fred Astaire & Judy Garland
Judy's outfits always look so pretty and fun. And I have a mile long list of clothes I would love to copy of Judy Garland's.

1. Strike Up the Band      2. Meet me in St. Louis

She has some simply darling outfits in Meet Me in St. Louis!

Girl Crazy
I LOVE the formal Judy wears in the movie Girl Crazy!! It is so pretty! I would dearly love to recreate it someday.

A fun top and skirt that Judy wears in Girl Crazy. I also love her hair! :) I must learn to set my hair like hers.

Movies I've seen Judy Garland in -
  • Strike Up the Band {1940} {movie review}
  • Thoroughbreds Don't Cry {1937} {movie review}
  • In the Good Old Summertime {1949} {movie review}
  • Girl Crazy {1943}
  • Babes on Broadway {1941}
  • Andy Hardy Meets Debutante {1940}
  • Babes in Arms {1939}
  • Meet Me In St. Louis {1944}
What's your favorite outfit of Judy Garland's? And what's your favorite film with her?

Thank you for answering my question in the last post! I'm so glad that the blog now runs faster for most of you! And thank you for the well wishes! I dearly hope that I will get better soon.  Well, that me and my siblings will get better soon. I've been sick in bed for one whole week now. I'm never this sick. Or are any of us, for that matter.

  1. I love Judy! I'm so envious of those gorgeous, full lips of hers. My favorite Judy movie is Meet Me in St Louis because I watched it with my husband on the night he asked me out for our first date, and it was the night I met his mom. Also, I live in St Louis, so that's kind of fun. I am absolutely in love with this blue dress that she wore in the movie. The chartreuse neck tie and fringe detail is amazing. 3. I love Judy, Easter Parade is my favorite so far. I need to see the Mickey Rooney ones, for some reason I've never seen any of them, I must correct this soon!

  4. Judy Garland is just so cute! I love her very first movies, where she's just this really small girl with an amazing voice. :)

    I love her formal dress in "Girl Crazy," but I also love her red dresses in "Meet Me In St. Louis" and "In the Good Old Summertime." My favorite movies of hers are "In the Good Old Summertime" and "Summer Stock" (also starring the super amazing Gene Kelly :). My favorite Judy/Mickey movie is "Girl Crazy." I think it has the best songs and plot of all their musicals together. Plus, it has that crazy over-the-top "I Got Rhythm" sequence at the end. :)

  5. I think my favorite outfit might be the lovely lavender dress she wears when she sings "Melancholy Baby" in the movie A Star Is Born. My favorite Judy Garland movie is a three-way tie between The Wizard of Oz, Easter Parade, and In the Good Old Summer Time. Really, I am a huge fan and adore all her movies.

    (She also has some really divine gowns in the movie Presenting Lily Mars, and in her first straight-drama role in The Clock.)
