Rebecca of Sewing in the Past tagged me. Thank you, Rebecca! =) I'm supposed to answer her eight questions. Then write my own set of eight questions for eight bloggers to answer. Sounds fun.

1. what time period would you travel back to? (why?)

Umm. Probably the 1940s. I love the clothing, cars, movies, well, everything. I think it would be interesting to be a girl during WWII.

2. what five things make you extremely happy?

Jesus. Family. Sewing. Traveling. Food.

3. you find out your great-uncle twice removed on your mother's side died and left you something huge. you arrive and you discover it is a roll-down desk. what is your reaction?

WOW! I can be a newswoman like in My Girl Friday. Or try to solve a mystery like in an episode of The Dick Van Dyke Show.

4. have you ever met a celebrity? been somewhere famous?

Depends on what kind of celebrity you mean. In the Hollywood & music world. No. But, I have met authors - Jasmine Baucham & the Botkin Sisters. In the sewing world - Jennie Chancey & the Long Ladies.

5. your favorite recipe, please?

My chocolate chip cookie recipe.

6. what's an obscure movie that nobody has probably ever seen that you really like...?

Don't really know. Oh, maybe the 1940 Pride & Prejudice! That is like one of my favorite versions of P&P.

7. something you want really, extremely, exceedingly, terribly bad.

A trip to Europe.

8. a dream that you wish to come true...occur...? (not necessarily a "nighttime" dream...like a "daydream" dream)

To have a bedroom up in an attic. I can see the room all pictured in my mind - it is so pretty. =)

*********************************************************************
My eight random questions -

1. What is your favorite book, besides the Bible? And why is it your favorite?
2. If you could live any where in the world for a month, where would it be?
3. What is a weird food combination that you enjoy eating?
4. If you could receive/sew any movie costume in the world, what would it be?
5. If you could own any painting in the world, which one would it be?
6. What is your biggest fear?
7. Are you a morning or night person?
8. What is your favorite time of the year?

***********************************************************************
Now the eight random bloggers I will tag to answer my random questions -

1. Lindsay @ Content in Christ
2. KatySue @ Not All Who Wander Are Lost
3. Bess @ Bess' Bag
4. Rebecca @ Singing In His Name

Shabby Apple's Dare to Design Contest | 1960s inspired dress

I was so excited that Shabby Apple was doing their Dare to Design contest again this year! I didn't have a chance last year, so I'm excited to join in the fun this year.

My dress design for Shabby Apple dresses is inspired by the early 1960s. It features a full pleated skirt {which falls just-below-the-knee}, cummerbund around the waist, slight scoop neckline, invisible zipper up the back, and short cap sleeves.

I think this dress would look lovely made up in light teal cotton with the cummerbund made up in a polka-dotted fabric of the same color. Or, in red cotton with a white and red polka-dot cummerbund. Then again, blue cotton with a blue and white polka-dot cummerbund would look charming.  Of course, any spring time color would be great for this amazing dress!

Autumn Modest Fashion Showcase - Gabrielle {Day 7}

~What I am Wearing~
cream shirt ... Liz Claiborne
Purple halter vest ... made by yours truly, but it is Ashley's vest ;)
denim knee length skirt ... made by yours truly
Purple plaid scarf ... Kohl's
brown flats ... Payless

Now, this outfit is suppose to be for day 7 of Marie's Autumn Modest Fashion Showcase, however, it seems as though she has not posted her outfit; thus the linky thing.

Anyway, I hope you like my outfit.  I do; except the fact that I think it makes me look short.... Hmm. I think I shall have to stick to wearing heels with this skirt.

Oh! If anyone happens to be at a Kohl's sometime soon, you might want to look for some lovely skirts they have!  They are long and modest!! *jumps for joy* And to add to the fact that they are (on me anyway) at my ankles (though at my mother they were several inches above...) they are of lovely plaids and of very soft material!  You might want to check it out.  ;) I hope to have pictures of my skirt tomorrow for Bramblewood Fashion's modest fashion week.  I hope y'all plan on attending!

Now am I forgetting anything? Ah, yes.  This post marks Bramblewood Fashion's 300th post!  Exciting.

Love and greetings from,
~Gabrielle Renee

In the Good Old Summertime {1949}

After the recommendation of one of our readers I taped In the Good Old Summertime {1949} off of TCM.  And today I watched it for the very first time. I loved it!

Starring Judy Garland & Van Johnson. In the Good Old Summertime {1949} is a musical remake of The Shop Around the Corner {1940} with James Stewart & Margaret Sullavan.  Can you believe it!?! They made a remake only nine years after the original.

It's the turn of the century America in Chicago when Andrew and Veronica first meet - by crashing into each other. They develop an instant and mutual dislike of each other right away. Which only grows when, later on, Andrew hire's Veronica as a saleslady at Oberkugen's music store. What they both don't know is, at night they both engage in an anonymous correspondence - with each other.  =)

For all you historical, or modern sewers out there. You will be excited to see a turn of the century sewing room. Plus, Judy has some really pretty clothes that she wears in the movie.

Also you can see Judy Garland's daughter in the closing scene. And she is the cutest thing ever! =)

A Girl's Life Fashion Week - Going Out to Eat {Day 7} (AMFS Day 5)

- What I'm Wearing -

Green Dress - Gabrielle made it. {She drafted her own pattern}
Cream cardigan - Gap Outlet {Had for a year}
Tan wedges - Target {Had for a year}
Owl Necklace - Joann Fabrics {$3}

-----------------------------------------------------

I love this dress! Gabrielle made it for herself, but sadly she grew out of it. So she gave it to me. =) When we are going out to eat, I usually don't wear anything special. Except for holidays, then I usually dress up when we go out.

Thank you for all your well wishes for me to get better. =) I'm still sick and hope to get better before my fashion week this Sunday. =)
