What I Wore | Memorial Day Inspired

-What I'm Wearing-

Jeans - St. John's Bay J.C.Penny
Chambray Tunic - St. John's Bay J.C.Penny
Red & White Stripe Tank - St. John's Bay J.C.Penny
Purple Handbag - St. John's Bay J.C.Penny
Polka-Dot Headband - Claire's
Key Watch Necklace - Maurices
Tan Wedges - Target
Pearl Earrings - Gift

Wow! Today's outfit could be an add for St. John's Bay! :p How crazy is that? Anyways, today's outfit theme was nautical, in honor of all of those who served in the Navy. I don't know anyone in the Navy. I just don't have any Air-force, Army, Marines kinda-of clothes.

I went to Joann Fabrics today for their Memorial Day sale. I picked up a ton of fabric to sew into skirts for etsy.  Which reminds me, I have a poll on the sidebar regarding skirt sizes. Please take the time to vote for your size. That way I know what sizes are needed. Thanks so much!

Brown T-shirt - St. John's Bay J.C.Penny
Orange Flowered Skirt - Route 66 Skirt Made by me
Tan Wedges - Xhilaration Target

In my last few posts I've been posting larger sized pictures. Do you all like the larger size pictures, or would you rather have the old size back?

I also redid the look of the blog, again. I like changing things up. Do you like the new format? Do you like having a large blog header, or would a smaller one?

It is Memorial weekend this week (in America), and I have some outfit ideas. So be on the look out for those special themed outfits. I think you all will like them. =)

Summer time is a hard season to dress for. As there are only some many ways you can wear a skirt and top, or dress. But during the Winter and Fall you can layer your clothes in so many ways. But come summer time, you want the lest amount of layers as possible. I'm starting to see how important accessories are. So last night, I put together some new outfits trying some new combination's. Let's just see, if I can keep up with the new fresh outfit inspiration all summer long. =)

Today's outfit was one of those "new" outfits I put together last night. Do you like it?

My "Anne of Green Gables" Inspired Outfit

Here is my "Anne of Green Gables" inspired outfit everyone. Remember that list I made of things that make me think of Anne? From that list I'm wearing a mint green dress, pearls, and a form of flowers in my hair. =)

-What I'm Wearing-

Mint Green Dress - Made by Gabrielle
Layer Necklace - Bass Shoe Outlet
Gold Flats - American Eagle Payless
Cream Flower Headband - Claire's
Pearl Earrings - Gift
Purse - Made by me

Another idea for a modern "Anne" inspired outfit is to pair an Edwardian style blouse with jeans, or a skirt. If it wasn't so hot today, I would show you how it looks. Maybe some other day I will. =)

"Anne of Green Gables" Style for Today

Chances are that you played, "Anne of Green Gables" growing up, or still do. ;-) You read all the books and watched the movies. You may have even dreamed of owning Anne's clothes in the Sullivan series. Right? Well, me and two of my sisters do. =) I love the story of Anne so much that I decided to do a post on her style and how to recreate it for today. Wonderful, huh? =)

First off, let me mention some fashion pieces that make me think of Anne.

  • Puff sleeves
  • Mint green dresses (This is Gilbert's favorite color on Anne.)
  • Heart Necklaces from Gilbert
  • Pearl Ring (Anne's Engagment ring)
  • Flowers in hair (Various occasions)
  • Carpet Bag (Most memorial occasion, when Matthew picks her up at the train station.)
  • Pinafore Apron (Wore aprons over dresses when a girl.)
  • Locket
  • Pearl Necklace from Matthew

You can try to insert one, or more of the above pieces into you outfits for a more Anne look. Another thing is to find modern clothes that Anne might wear. Yes, I have some options for you.

 1. Frontier Fashionista Tunic (Modcloth) 2. Streaming Sunshine Top (Modcloth) 3. Rosamond Vest (Modcloth) 4. Savannah Sweetness Top (Modcloth)

1. Summer Friday Top (Modcloth) 2. Don't Be Bashful Blouse (Modcloth) 3. Naturally Chic Bag (Modcloth) 4. Paint the Roses Blue Dress (Ruche)

For some odd reason the rest of my photos won't format like the ones above.  I wonder why? So you will have to endure the following longgg column format.

All for the Love of You Daisy Dress (Ruche)

Seeking Sage Advice Green Peasant Top (Ruche)

 Fairytale Perfection Ruffle Blouse (Ruche)

Carefree Delight Ruffle Blouse (Ruche)

At the break of dawn denim bowtie skirt (Ruche)

Blowfish Festival Canvas Peeptoe Shoes (Ruche)

Nicole Behave Ankle Bootie (Ruche)

All of the above I feel Anne might wear if she lived today. They are pretty, girly, and homey.  You can pair the tops with either dark jeans or pretty skirts.

I have a fun idea in my head for a Anne outfit from my closet. So look forward to that. =) Plus, a post on her costumes in the movies and some ideas on how to recreate them. Sound good?

Til then!

Who Inspires Me (Fashion Wise) | Grace Kelly

“Who Inspires Me” (Fashion Wise) will be a new series that I will try to do once every 2-3 weeks, or even once a month. =) My first post will be on Grace Kelly. Grace Kelly, a lady whose style matches her name - Graceful. Though I have never seen a film with Grace Kelly I love her style.

Her wedding dress is one of my favorite weddings dresses ever! She is also the only actress I have a book on; which I recommend picking up. It is called, Grace Kelly: Icon of Style to Royal Bride and it has lovely pictures and even has a section on her wedding dress. :)

Some of my favorite outfits/pictures of Grace Kelly are the following:

This look can easily be worn today. It is only a simple button down shirt, cardigan, skirt, and belt; very simple, yet stylish.

One of my favorite causal looks. Jeans (rolled up slightly), button down shirt, and penny loafers.

I LOVE this dress from High Society!

This lovely  dress is from Rear Window.

A lovely party dress! Very modest too.

So far I have recreated only one of her dresses. And it is her fancy dress seen in Rear Window (1954) with Jimmy Stewart.

My version has two changes from hers, I raised my necklines (in front and back), and my over-skirt has no embroidery, instead it sparkles. =)

::My version::

I know you all are going to ask, 'what pattern did you use?' Yes? Well, I drafted it. Meaning I made my own pattern. =) And this was my first try, back in 2008.

What is your favorite Grace Kelly outfit or movie?

~Ashley
