Hundreds of people pass you by in every line of buisness: shoes, hats, automobiles, radios, everything, and there all nice lovable people and they lets you alone, is that right? Then you get a hold of some dough and what happens, all those nice sweet lovable people become hee-lots, a lotta heels. They begin to creep up on ya, trying to sell ya something: they get long claws and they get a stranglehold on ya, and you squirm and you duck and you holler and you try to push them away but you haven't got the chance. They gots ya. First thing ya know you own things, a car for instance, now your whole life is messed up with alot more stuff: you get license fees and number plates and gas and oil and taxes and insurance and identification cards and letters and bills and flat tires and dents and traffic tickets and motorcycle cops and tickets and courtrooms and lawers and fines and... a million and one other things. What happens? You're not the free and happy guy you used to be. You need to have money to pay for all those things, so you go after what the other fellas got. There you are, you're a hee-lot yourself."
(Meet John Doe
) - Achaia
Character #1 - "I want it to be a soft green, not as blue-green as a robin's egg, but not as yellow-green as daffodil buds. Now, the only sample I could get is a little too yellow, but don't let whoever does it go to the other extreme and get it too blue. It should just be a sort of grayish-yellow-green. Now, the dining room. I'd like yellow. Not just yellow; a very gay yellow. Something bright and sunshine-y. I tell you, Mr. PeDelford, if you'll send one of your men to the grocer for a pound of their best butter, and match that exactly, you can't go wrong! Now, this is the paper we're going to use in the hall. It's flowered, but I don't want the ceiling to match any of the colors of the flowers. There's some little dots in the background, and it's these dots I want you to match. Not the little greenish dot near the hollyhock leaf, but the little bluish dot between the rosebud and the delphinium blossom. Is that clear? Now the kitchen is to be white. Not a cold, antiseptic hospital white. A little warmer, but still, not to suggest any other color but white. Now for the powder room - in here - I want you to match this thread, and don't lose it. It's the only spool I have and I had an awful time finding it! As you can see, it's practically an apple red. Somewhere between a healthy winesap and an unripened Jonathan. Oh, excuse me..."
Character #2 - "You got that Charlie?"
Character #3 - "Red, green, blue, yellow, white."
Character #2 - "Check."
(Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House
) - Kirstin
Character #1 - "Just say one word and tell me if you're killed!"
Character #2 - "No... but I think I've been rendered unconscious."
(Anne of Green Gables
) - Jane
Character #1 - "Open my present Peter! It's crayons. If you don't want them, I'll have them!"
(The Railway Children
) - Marian
Character #1 - "Not too sweet, not too sour."
character #2 - "Just too, uh... pink."

) - Lady Helen Mar

Okay, I'm gonna go ahead and post this comment...just so I'm the first to guess the ones that I'm SURE of! :) There are a couple that I KNOW I know, but I just have to think about them to place the right movie with them! :) *haha*
#8. Lucy and Reeepicheep on Prince Caspian.ReplyDelete
#12. Mr. Knightly on Emma?
#13. The Young Victoria.

These are the ones I know:ReplyDelete
12. Emma (1996 version, I believe)
18. Anne of Green Gables
20. The Sound of Music
Oh, and I KNOW I've heard #7 before but I just can't seem to think of it!
I think I know two of them...number 8 is from "Prince Caspian," and number 9 is from "Casablanca." A few of the others sound really familiar, but I just can't get them. :)ReplyDelete
I might try this on my blog, too!
I think I remember another! :) Is number 17 from "Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream Home"? I seem to remember Myrna Loy saying that. It's an amazing quote. :)ReplyDelete
Okay, I promise not to guess on any more. :)
I only know two:ReplyDelete
20. Sound of Music
Thanks for doing this, Ashley!
Alright, I marked who guessed what movies correctly in the post now.ReplyDelete
The rest of the movie quotes left are from old movies, like from the 30s, 40s, and 50s. All except one, #19 which came out in the 2000s. Keep guessing everyone! =)
I know #11! It's "Bells of St. Mary's" with Bing Crosby.ReplyDelete
BTW, I've really been enjoying your blog Ashley!
Correct! And thanks Caroline, I'm always delighted to hear when someone enjoys the blog. =)ReplyDelete
Is #2 from "It's a Wonderful Life" ?ReplyDelete
These are hard! I don't think I know many of the ones that are left! =)
Nope. But you got the right era. =)ReplyDelete
Oooooof, I seem to know #15 but I can't place it! :P Everybody already got the ones I knew - oh well! I'm going to play too! :DReplyDelete
AAAAAAAAAAAACK!!!!! IT'S MR. SMITH GOES TO WASHINGTON!!!ReplyDelete
(I think. :))
YES! You got it! =DReplyDelete
I've been lurking for a while, so I had to pop in and say I'm 99% sure that #14 is The Long Long Trailer!ReplyDelete
I'm a good bit older than you, but I still really enjoy your blog!
Oh, and is #16 from You Can't Take It With You?ReplyDelete
Oh, I know two of them!!ReplyDelete
#2 is from "30 Seconds Over Tokyo"!
#16 is from "Meet John Doe"!
#19 is from The Railway Children!! I love that movie. :)ReplyDelete
Ooo, this is fun; I actually know a lot of these, because a lot of them are from old movies! I don't usually do too well placing modern movie quotes; probably because I haven't seen many modern movies. :)ReplyDelete
Anyway - a lot of these have been guessed already, and there's only one left that I know; #10 is from The Inn of the Sixth Happiness. :)
Hope you're doing well, Ashley. Keep up the nice blogging! :)
Hurray! Someone who has also seen "The Inn of the Sixth Happiness"! =)ReplyDelete
I've just stumbled across the chain of blogs posting this quiz, and I love it!! I'm going to do it on my blog, too -- y'all come on over! :-DReplyDelete
