You can go several routes for your own "Little White Dress." You can either buy or make your own dress. If you can sew, and love everything old-fashion may I recommend Mrs. Jennie Chancey's 1914 Afternoon Dress pattern (scroll down a bit). I've seen this pattern made both historical and modern. And both ways look lovely! You can see pictures of the historical way here. And a fellow blogger who made it modern over at Dreaming of Avonlea.
If you can't sew and want a more modern take here are some of my recommendations.
Beach Breeze Dress - J. Jill
Pure Jill Hooded Dress - J. Jill
Linen Knot-Front Dress - J. Jill
Valentine Ladies Dress - April Cornell
Chaps Swiss-Dot Dress - Kohls
The Traveler - Shabby Apple
Cap-Sleeve Dress (comes in white) - Newport News
Beda Dress - Anthropologie

You mean I might be able to get away with wearing my white 1914 dress?? No way! :P Hmm, I shall have to think about this, because it would be REALLY nice to have a little white dress to wear this summer...I already love to wear white tops with denim skirts, so I guess we'll see...
ReplyDeleteI do not own a little white or even a little black dress actually. But I do own a little cream dress and I love it! I bought it for only $20.00 from an indian booth in Alaska's Anchorage outdoor market. My grandparents and cousins live in Alaska by the way, so we go up there every 3 years. Love my cream dress! But I wish I had a white one. :)
ReplyDeleteOh! I am SO excited to hear that white dresses will be in this year! I always wanted a white dress (besides my Regency dress :-) )
ReplyDeleteOh, I love the Beda Dress! So cute!
ReplyDeleteHave great day!
Love and Blessings,
Shannon
I love white things! Which is bad because they stain. I really hope I have time to make a white dress before summer! I would like to make one from a Sense & Sensibility pattern.
ReplyDeleteOh yes as Elinor said I do have a white regency dress and I love it! Although I only wear it for 1812 reenacting as well as other occasions where my friends also wear regency dresses for a tea or something or other. :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you are all excited as me for the little white dress!
ReplyDeleteI love hearing all your thoughts and stories on white dresses. :-)
See Ralph Lauren's spring collection.
